About Me
Brazilian currently living in the US. In the Internet Industry since 1995 - and working independently since 2002. My formal education includes a BA degree in Social Communications (Marketing and Advertising) and an MBA (E-Business Administration).

I have corporate experience from working for design firms and an entrepreneurial side that I favor over having a traditional job. I'm very experienced in online community development/leadership, a professional blogger/writer, a webdesigner, a consultant. I’m usually involved in many different projects at once. All of my business is done online, which makes me a location independent professional.

I’m the designer of the award winning Connections theme for WordPress, in charge of the Brazilian version of the Day Zero Project (101 Coisas em 1001 Dias) and the creator of the biggest chinchilla related community in Brazil – Chinchila Online.

Re: What Do You Check First: Email or Facebook? [INFOGRAPHIC] 2 months ago
"if start your day with a visit to Facebook, you might welcome “extracurricular” content from brands, such as interaction and entertainment that isn’t directly related to a purchase or business transaction."After reading this, my first thought was that this conclusion was pretty lame. If you use Facebook at all and like/are a fan of/follow a brand or company, sure, it could mean that you "might welcome “extracurricular” content from brands" (do we really need a study to tell us that?).But what they have on their website is actually this:"People who check email first tend to be motivated to interact with brands online for the sake of obtaining deals, promotions, or new product information. People who initially check Facebook tend to become fans of brands for entertainment purposes or to show support—not to obtain deals. They're more likely to seek promotions through email."Now, that makes sense. The results they've found indicate the different type of motivation and engagement people who check Facebook first or email first tend to have when interacting with brands online. But even this comparison isn't comprehensive: they analyze what people who check email first tend to look for in such interactions (in more general terms), but analyze people who check Facebook first only from the perspective of what motivates them to become a fan on Facebook - which doesn't say much about how they interact with brands in general, except for the fact that when they are looking for deals and promotions, they do so through email. Not a lot of groundbreaking informationon there. But the way this was worded in this article made no sense whatsoever - instead it should say "if you start your day with a visit to Facebook, you are more likely to become a fan of a brand on the service to show support or receive “extracurricular” content from brands, such as..." - which, to most of us who use Facebook, sounds almost obvious. Just thought I'd point that out. This study might be useful to companies who don't know anything about social media. And by the way, I check my email first. :) Facebook and Twitter fight for second place on a daily basis and it's an equally matched fight. ;)

Re: Google Buzz Makes Popular Users Less Overwhelming 6 months ago
Actually, I don't think comments should only be collapsible, I think they should be collapsed by default and expandable if and when you want to read the comments (mimicking blog posts). This change is a step in the right direction, but still far from being ideal. Let's wait. Although they should really work on this feature fast. I've been using Buzz less and lees each day that goes by.

Just run a Google search for Nickelback If Today Was Your Last Day lyrics and you'll find the lyrics. Too long to post here.

Re: Mashable’s New Design: What Do You Think? [POLL] 7 months ago
I like it, but there's something really weird going on with with the top nav menu alignment: compare the first and last tab ("home" and "jobs"). Other than that, I think it looks great.Edit: oh, yes, comment area could go up a little indeed.

Re: Choose your Lifestreaming Service Carefully. Swurl.com is No More a year ago
Wise words. I'm using Storytlr and fully enjoying it. I even set up custom domain a few hours ago, but this post is now making me have second thoughts. Maybe we're all better off with WordPress lifestream plugins - there's always the risk of some data loss depending on how you set it up, however, at least you're in control of your lifestream by choosing that option. I agree it was pretty inconsiderate of the owners of Swurl to simply wipe the service off with no in advance warning to users. I guess "you get what you pay for", however, respect and consideration should be standard behavior IMO.

Muito bacana o post. Se várias pessoas fizessem um post como este, todos descobriríamos coisas bem interessantes. Vou pensar em fazer o meu. :-) Abraços. Patricia.
