You can do many different types of things with tumblr, including making it like a regular text blog. It's mostly in the theme you pick and the content.Give it a shot if you want to!

I only wanted a mini-computer that had no voice. Sometimes I think that our cell phones have to wear too many hats (it's a phone! and a messenger! and it follows your twitter! and it does email! and and and!) and the voice quality suffers. Like, R&D and manufacturers are trying to stuff too many things into a small-form device. I'd rather carry two devices, one that does all that other "stuff" and one that makes calls. I guess I prefer a separate device.

I certainly hope it won't be the only option for radio. I listen to mostly NPR in the car and in the house. It's a decent idea for music, but I can't help but think that it will be rather costly.Amy

I found iTunes to hog so much memory, it was insane. I like Rhythmbox (a lot) and I think it's the best for my needs. Banshee is decent (but last.fm doesn't work in it right now). I need to give Exaile another shot.I hated AmaroK 2.0. I think it blows; with no way to read a CD, how does the dev team expect you to import music?I second Songbird for Windows. For Linux, it kind of stinks. No last.fm radio support (says I'm not in the US, WTF?), slow and doesn't really fit with my Gnome theme.Has anyone suggested Foobar2000? I know my brother swears by it, but I never really got into it. Now I'm on Ubuntu, and Foobar is a Windows program. If I get a copy of Win7, I'll give Foobar a shot.Amy

I agree with everything you said with the exception of one: "Let’s face it, nobody buys physical media any more..."I buy plenty of music and CDs. Most is direct from the artist at a festival, but I still buy physical media. I like having control over it and the ability to rip and re-rip in different formats.Amy

Pingfire is awesome and is about the only way I use Ping. Sometimes I use it in my IM program (Pidgin) but if I'm not signed in there, I use it in the browser. Pingfire is awesome...Amy

Very good point. I haven't seen or used Papyrus (anyway, recently). I guess a font is there to communicate information. I really don't have that much of a preference for fonts... *Shrug*

Good point. I guess I don't feel like mucking with it right now, just like I don't feel like messing around with the Karmic release of Ubuntu right now (it's at Alpha 1).Bugginess is not what I need when I have three browsers that are mega-stable (firefox, flock and opera) right now.Amy

I'm waiting for the Linux version. I will probably give it a try when it is announced for Ubuntu (it's available right now, but you have to compile it... I'm not that ambitious) and see what I think.Very good review. Thanks!Amy
