About Me
Prior to founding FAB, Bryan worked exclusively in the music industry. Beginning in 1990, he was responsible for developing and enhancing the public profiles of many recording artists. As Manager of Media Relations at Tommy Boy Music, he worked with Coolio, RuPaul, Naughty By Nature, Queen Latifah, De La Soul, and House Of Pain. Bryan was responsible for Coolio's first national magazine cover. Bryan’s love of networking enabled him to expand his vision and client base.
Most of FAB's clients since 2003 have been small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Kudos. There was a lot of excitement in my house when that scene aired. Also, kudos for trying to leverage that scene for all it is worth and not walking away crying when they didn't like the suggestion. All in all, a great opportunity.

I have read DeLillo and Perrotta, but not the books listed here, which I will now put on my short list. DeLillo's Underworld and Libra are great and Perrotta's Joe College is a laugh riot. Currently reading Farai Chideya's Kiss The Sky, which may not be a rock n roll novel, but it is a novel about rock n roll. Quite good so far.

Ditto on everything you said. I am very dependent on Feedly to share, tweet, and FriendFeed like/comment. However, I have an easier time going through all of my feeds in Google Reader. I guess the spartan UI keeps me focused on the job at hand. Feedly is one of the first things I go to every morning.

Re: Why The Music Model Must Change 9 months ago
The music model is changing. When I worked in the record label system in the early 90's, it was the traditional model. Artist makes single, single is worked at the appropriate radio stations, video is worked at natl/local video outlets, artist does free promo tour, artists gets interviewed by natl/local media, and on and on. Tuesday was the big day, because that's the day albums were released. People went to Tower, HMV, Virgin...those stores are either out of biz or going out as we speak. Things have changed drastically, so the model has to change. Record labels were slow and hesitant to change before the writing was on the wall, and now they're playing catch up. Which is bad for them, but good for the artist. Now, artists with solid fan bases can touch their folks with no middleman. They have more control of their product, and they make more money per transaction. Ten years ago, no artist would have jumped on those Live Nation deals. Now, they make sense. When Prince was writing slave on his face re Warner Bros, he was doing all he could do subvert the traditional model. Some of his deals may not have been blockbusters, but Prince was changing the music model with each release. I doubt that we will end up with just one new music model, but it will be interesting to see which ones stick and point the industry towards a real future.

Re: Baracus Dotcom 11 months ago
I am not a Duke fan. I know they are easy to hate, because they win all the time. But dude traveled like 3 times in front of the refs and they still didn't blow the whistle. Va Tech was down three and trapped Scheyer with some good D. To get out of it, he traveled not once, not twice, but three times. He really didn't get even get out of the trap. The defense did it's job. Duke does not need the help. They are a top ten team. Just make the call. When you see stuff like that, you wonder if there is something else going on.

Re: 11 Reasons to Take the Train a year ago
Like Graham said, the buses are pretty good. The Bolt Bus from NY to DC is nice. Free wi-fi and electrical outlets. If you're the first to book online, your fare is $1 one way. I went to DC in November and paid $24 one way and laptopped it the whole time. The GoTo Bus to Philly is cool as well.

Twitter is a tremendous tool as a knowledge network and news source. I found out about the plane crashing in the Hudson via twitter (just as my bus was about to enter the Lincoln Tunnel). Anything that helps you become smarter and more informed is going to help you get more business.

Re: Modern PR Series: What You Need to Know About Public Relations Today a year ago
Kellye,This is a great idea. I am getting tired of the pr bashing meme, but I do think that we all have to stay on top of the changes and listen to what our clients and target audience want from us. As a non-tech PR person, I find it interesting to follow all of this talk. My entertainment clients have no idea what a twitpitch is or a SMR. They only care if the NY Times gets their message. My small biz clients don't care what method I use to convey their message...they trust that I will tweak my pitches for the appropriate outlets. And that's all this pr bashing is really about. They are saying talk to me the way I want to be talked to. This guy wants twitpitches, another one wants OPML, and outlet X wants SMR's. All of us who are paying attention, are making the necessary adjustments.I have a MTV News contact who has a great presence on Twitter. He told me that if he received a pitch on Twitter or Facebook, he would unfollow said person. Another writer won't listen to any mp3's I send. He wants a CD. If I don't pay attention to these folks, then I deserve to be bashed. It's our job to find that out about all of our media contacts. But you already know this. Your observations on all things PR have been right on. I suspect many other PR professionals know it as well, but we are just going about our business quietly. It's more important to let the message speak louder than our methods. In my opinion.Bryan R. Adams’s last blog post..Five Tools Of The Networking Trade

Thanks for retweeting this. It's a great message for all of us who are looking at the social media superstars and wondering how we can achieve that level. Start slow and do you. Be the best you can be and do the thing that you do best and keep your nose to the grindstone.Let them be them, admire them but don't be jealous. If you do it right, it could be you one day.You nailed it, my friend.

Re: louisgray.com: What FriendFeed Needs to Do To Grow and Keep New Users a year ago
Great post, Louis. I would consider myself to be on the novice level when it comes to using these tools, but for some reason, I understood FF right away. I am a fan of it. Maybe it's because I'm a Gemini, and I enjoy seeing several views of one person. It's true that the search could be more efficient. Tracking would be good as well. Maybe it's destined to be a niche product - but in reality aren't they all? How big is Twitter? How many homes with computers use Facebook as compared to owning TV sets? Mainstream is The Today Show or McDonald's. I did like Scoble's 30 min vid, but FF does need to do a 6 min version themselves. I don't need a desktop app for FF. I have done alert thingy, people browsr, etc and FF is best used at its site, IMO. Bottom line, I don't think it's hard to understand, that's not where the problem is. I think that many of the folks who have given it a shot and abandoned it, just don't need that kind of "noise." Me, I can't live without it.I may not send 20 tweets a day, but you will see what I'm about by what I Digg, Stumbeupon, Flickr, Share, Tumble, blog, listen to, read, and rent.
